Greenwich, CT.- The Cavalier Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of recent works by the brilliant young realist, Edward Minoff. Featuring his latest monumental seascape "Selene" alongside several additional seascapes, still life, and figurative works will be on view from April 21st until May 11th. For his seascapes, and like the Hudson River School artists (including Frederic Edwin Church, Asher B. Durand, and William Trost Richards) whom he counts as inspiration, Minoff spent months carefully analyzing and observing his subject. He took the time to develop detailed notes, drawings, and color studies to aid in his finished piece, as well as using such scientific methods as Munsell color chips and his knowledge of the properties of light and water to achieve an accurate representation.

Edward Minoff was born in 1972 in New York City. He graduated with honors from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Throughout his high school and college years he studied painting and sculpture at the Art Student League, the National Academy School of Design and at Vassar College. After co-founding the animation house, AMPnye, he began to study with Jacob Collins at the Water Street Atelier. When the lure of the studio became irresistable, he left his animation company to devote himself entirely to painting. Later he journeyed to Italy to study at the Florence Academy of Art. He has shown his work at galleries in New York, San Francisco, Washington, Houston, Santa Fe, Greenwich and Nantucket. He lives and works in Brooklyn. Founded in 1986, Cavalier Galleries, Inc. offers fine painting, sculpture and photography at two premier exhibition spaces in Greenwich, Connecticut and Nantucket, Massachusetts. Their international stable of artists provides the galleries with a selection of works ranging from traditional and representational to modern and contemporary.  From those who have achieved an important place in the history of art, to emerging young talent, these artists continue to provide them with extraordinary works that they are proud to present to visitors and collectors. From the galleries’ inception it has been at the forefront of promoting sculpture. In 1987 the gallery put forth the first U.S. exhibition of the Royal Society of British Sculptors. In 1988 the Cavalier Sculpture Garden was established in Stamford, CT and in 1992, in conjunction with F. D. Rich and Frank Mercedes and Sons, Inc., Cavalier curated The “Borglums of Fairfield County,” which was the first show where both Gutzon (of Mount Rushmore fame) and his brother Solon exhibited together.  The following year, the nationally-acclaimed Stamford Sculpture Walk opened. This outdoor exhibition was dedicated to public interaction, education, enrichment and enjoyment. Cavalier’s involvement culminated with the 1999 exhibition “Important Sculptors of the Late Twentieth Century” which included major works by Moore, Botero, Smith, Oldenburg, Segal and Nevelson. Today, Cavalier represents the finest in contemporary sculpture including the works of Hans Van de Bovenkamp, Reuben Nakian, Bruno Lucchesi and Jim Rennert. These world class talents have enabled Cavalier to make its mark in the corporate and private collectors market and uphold Cavalier’s strong tradition of promoting sculpture.
