Bangkok, Thailand - La Lanta Fine Art presents a new painting exhibition "POETICAL JUNCTURES" by five Indonesian artists, curated by Rizi A. Zaelani, a well known Indonesian curator. All participating artists depict similar concerns pertaining to the change they are experiencing in their country. The artists discuss the issues of social, political, and cultural changes through images of body.
Except for Purwa who works in Bali, all of the artists live and work in Semarang - the biggest city in central Java province. The two cities have different ways of life. Bali is a famous place for tourism and a cultural melting pot while Semarang is enriched with history of the international trading port. The exhibition will be on show from July 11 until
July 30 2009. The opening reception
will be organized at 5.00 pm on Saturday July 11, 2009. Click on logo below to add this article to your favorite Social Website ~ |

The
exhibition “POETICAL JUNCTURES” examines the role of “memory” as
the guardian of history and the dialogue between the past, the present and the
future. Memory renders the past and
it constitutes the present. In this
exhibition, human body symbolizes an effort to complete the fragmented junctures
in one’s life. The body
is conceived less as an object but rather as an area, which gives a strong sense
of both location and dislocation. The five artists, with their individual
approach, express their thoughts and experiences pertaining to their memory of
personal junctures.
