London - The exhibition, at October Gallery, brings together major works by 12 artists who best represent the innovative and dynamic artistic practices across the African continent and the African diasporas and launches the book, Angaza Afrika – African Art Now - a highly visual survey of contemporary African art compiled by Christopher Spring and published by Laurence King.

The first of its kind, the book offers an in-depth, colourful introduction to the history – in terms of art as well as of ideas – of the picture frame from medieval times to the present. Frances Stark at the Secession

Vienna, Austria - Frances Stark's work is characterized by her exploration of the manifold interrelations between art and literature and image and text. Her work on and with script encompasses both art and writing. She often investigates the process of artistic production and the creative act itself. Her finely assembled collages are closely meshed works of various found and invented characters, snippets of text and graphic elements, literary quotations and autobiographical references.
Kaleidoscope Artists Celebrated

Akron, Ohio - The Akron Art Museum presents the exhibition Creativity Transcends, on view through July 13, 2008, in the museum’s Mary S. and David C. Corbin Foundation Gallery. Keith Haring's 50th Anniversary

NEW YORK CITY - The Keith Haring Foundation has announced several events happening around Keith Haring's 50th anniversary. "The creator of some of the most popular, enduring images of late 20th-century art, Keith Haring was also an iconic figure of the downtown New York scene in the '80s. Christina Clausen's documentary offers an affectionate, deeply personal glimpse into Haring's life, from his early years growing up in a small, conservative Pennsylvania town to his heyday as a world-renowned artist, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Madonna, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Andy Warhol."
Continuum of Jewish Heritage

MILWAUKEE, WI - The Jewish Museum Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s only museum dedicated to the history of the Jewish people in this region, opened on April 28, 2008. The Museum is located in the historic Helfaer Community Service Building, designed by Edward Durell Stone on Prospect Avenue, immediately north of downtown Milwaukee. The chief artifact of the Museum is a one-of-a-kind tapestry specially created by artist Marc Chagall to mark the building’s opening in 1973.

Madrid, Spain - Only on a few occasions have the Goyas in the custody of the Prado Museum left their galleries. Yesterday, during the afternoon, one of those times happened when the famous painter, played by actor Cales Canut, gave six of his Works of art (The Third of May, 1808, The Nude Maja, The Clothed Maja, The Family of Charles IV, Queen Maria on Horseback,) to the mayor, Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón, as a starting point for the spectacle 6 Goya 6, created by Pere Pinyol to conmemorate the 200th anniversary of the 2nd of May.
