New York City - Woodward Gallery is proud to present Terence Netter at the Gourmet Garage, SoHo, street level windows located at 453 Broome Street at Mercer, NYC.  'Tournesols:Clytie Loving Apollo from Afar' will be on exhibition through 15 February, 2008.

Clytie was a water-nymph and in love with Apollo (the god of light and the sun in Greek and Roman Mythology). He had no interest in her. So she pined away, sitting all day long on the cold ground, with her unbound hair streaming over her shoulders. Nine days she sat and tasted neither food nor drink, her own tears and the chilly dew were her only food. She gazed on the sun god, Apollo. When he rose, and as he passed through his daily course to his setting in the sky; she saw no other object, her face turned constantly on him.

At last, they say, Clytie’s limbs rooted in the ground, her face became a sunflower, which turns on its stem to always face the sun throughout its daily course for eternity.

Netter’s eternity is gently detailed by each of the seven phases of the moon. His tournesols are a welcome addition to a cold, gray season.
