BATH, UK - The Bath Society of Artist’s 102nd annual summer exhibition will open on Saturday, June 16 at the Bath & North East Somerset Council-run Victoria Art Gallery. The exhibition includes paintings, prints, drawings and sculptures contributed by members of the Society together with a section that is open for any artist who is not a member to enter. 18-25 year olds are allowed to submit one or two works for only £1 per submission.
Organising Secretary Jim Connolly said: “The new prize money will hopefully encourage a wider diversity of styles and reflection of current art forms. A member of the committee has emailed every fine art student in the area to tell them about the new prize”.
The handing in of work for the exhibition takes place on Saturday, June 9 from 10.30-3.30 PM, prior to the judging that takes place the following day by a panel of local experts. Application forms can be collected from the gallery or downloaded from www.victoriagal.org.uk .
The opening of the exhibition will take place on Friday, June 15 at 6.30 pm, when the prizes will be announced. This includes the Andrew Brownsword Prize for the best work of art in the exhibition – the winner of which receives £1,000. During the exhibition members of the public will be able to vote for their favorite piece of work using voting slips provided by the Gallery. The winner of the People’s Choice Award will receive £500.
