    artwork: Mary Vernon Shelter IslandDallas,TX - This exhibition includes 36 recent paintings by Mary Vernon. Mary Vernon studied art at the University of California, Berkeley, and received her BFA and MA at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque.

    Vernon has taught painting and drawing since 1987 at Southern Methodist University and chaired the Division of Art from 1987 to 1995.  Previously, she taught art history there from 1967 to 1981.  Since 1982, Vernon has been a Fellow of The Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture.  Vernon has exhibited nationally and internationally with solo shows as far away as France, Hungary, Kazakhstan, and Slovenia.  She has participated in the Art in Embassies Programs in Rumania, Latvia, and Chile. This is her second solo exhibition at Valley House.
