LONDON - Toni Heath Gallery is delighted to present “Particular Places”, an exhibition of the gorgeous work of Jane Millar.  On exhibition Friday 29 September to Saturday 21, 2006.

Jane Millar’s paintings refer to photographs of territories, and in the case of the Tornado series, to photographs of an instant, a colluding between energy, matter and light.  Some of the photographic images have been found, sent or given, some she has made herself, but in all cases these images speak of a territory of the imagination, a place where she searches for that which is lost and tries to glimpse that which is hardly remembered.

Millar works across the surface of the images with stitched beads and nail tips, puncturing and threading the surface, allowing the image’s surface to become a skin.  The thread and beads focus the image, masking what lies underneath.

This work also searches back, to a just remembered moment of a magical, pre-language time, when the world was one of glittery fascination, a world of emotional and physical sensation.

Since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 1989, Jane Millar has exhibited extensively throughout the UK and has work in many corporate and private collections in the UK, USA, Europe & Japan.

Jane Millar was born in Cardiff in 1964 and currently lives and works in London.  Visit Toni Heath Gallery at : www.toniheath.com
