Bangkok, Thailand - Nomadic artist Stephen Eastaugh merges abstract art, landscape, and stitches in “You are Here” exhibition. The artist explores the idea of place, location, home, land and geography. Constantly moving from place to place in the last 25 years, Eastaugh is inspired by tourist maps found all over the world with little red dots that give us a clue of “where we are”. He shares the idea that the route, not the location where one stands, structures the travel experience. The exhibition poses the question of mobility versus stability. On exhibition on view 2nd October through 31st October, 2008 at La Lanta Fine Art. The work in this exhibition covers geography from Australia to Franze Josef Land near the North Pole and Antarctica to Bangkok. Opening reception on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 7.00 pm. “I have occasionally woken up at some longitude and latitude and it has taken me some minutes to discover or recall what city or even what country I was in. Could this be some form of wanderlust sickness or terminal jetlag?,” said Eastaugh.
The opening reception will be presided over by Ms. Bronte Moules, Deputy Head of Mission, Australian Embassy on Thursday, October 2nd at 7.00 pm at La Lanta Fine Art.
