    Saint Petersburg, Russia - The exhibition dedicated to the art of socialist realism exclusively formed & designed for China comprises circa 300 works of art: painting, sculpture, graphic, decorative applied and folk art from the collections of the State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg), State Historical Museum (Moscow), Perm Art Gallery etc.  It is organized within the framework of the “Year of Russia in China”.  The exhibition is organized in collaboration with “Rosizo” State Museum-Exhibition Center.  The exhibition consists of several thematic sections which were the parts of the ideological formula of the 1930-50s: official painting, party leaders & common people, sports, childhood, war & peace.

    The visitors of the exposition can get acquainted with the works of the most prominent masters of Soviet art: Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, Arkady Plastov, Alexander Deineka and many others.

    In 2006 the exposition was presented in Shanghai and Beijing. Now it is a great success in Chongqi.  The exhibition will soon be on the road again.  In Spring 2007 it will come to Canton (Guangzhou).

    The State Russian Museum will participate in the Russian National Exhibition in Beijing (November 8-13, 2006).  The exhibition is organized according to the Order of the President of the Russian Federation.  The motto of the exposition is “Russia & China: news ways of trade-economic relations in the 21st century”.  It is a key event of the Year of Russia in China.

    The State Russian Museum will present the “Russian Museum: Virtual Branch” information-educational center in the cultural section of the National Russian Pavilion.

    The Russian Museum collection contains circa 400.000 exhibits.  The main complex of museum buildings - the Mikhailovsky Palace and Benois Wing - houses the permanent exhibition of the Russian Museum, tracing the entire history of Russian art from the tenth to the twentieth centuries.  The museum collection embraces all forms, genres, schools and movements of art.
