artwork: Robert Rauschenberg BelliniStanford, CA - Art from Life: Prints by Robert Rauschenberg will be on view through September 24 in the Freidenrich Family Gallery, at Cantor Arts Center.  This selection from the Marmor Foundation and the Fearer Family Collection surveys the artist's prints from the 1960s to the present.  Drawing from everyday "found" imagery, the Western artistic tradition, and personal experience, Rauschenberg produces provocative compositions whose ingenuity and experimental character has enriched the art world for over half a century.  There are about 20 works in this installation.

Rauschenberg's involvement with two of America's great fine art printers, Universal Limited Art Editions and Gemini G.E.L., gave the artist access to a spectrum of printing techniques and materials with which to develop an impressive graphic oeuvre.  Masterpieces of his lithographic work from the early 1960s include the complete Bellini and Ruminations series.  Also featured in the rotation are his experiments in paper-making and printing with examples from his Cardbirds and Pages and Fuses series.
