Toronto, Canada - Gallery at 129 Ossington will hold an exhibition of Richard Martin’s Photographs from May 8th through April 7th 2007 Cuba is colour.  The clarity of the Caribbean light seizes it, blends and fractures it into new palettes, every hour, every day.  Colour in Cuba is organic and alive.  It leaves a lasting impression on your soul.  Moving beyond the superficial stereotypes of Cuba, this exhibition explores the everyday life and spirit flourishing in the streets of Havana, Trinidad, Santiago and Guantanamo.

Moving beyond the superficial stereotypes of Cuba, this exhibition explores the everyday life and spirit flourishing in the streets of Havana, Trinidad, Santiago and Guantanamo.  Martin's work creates a stunning and intimate portrait of Cuba and its people through the dynamic colours and rich textures which symbolize their society and culture.  Fragments of buildings, street life and architectural details are transformed into lyrical beauty as Martin positions them ambiguously between the observable and the abstract.  Martin appeals to our emotions and transports us through the ethereal and atmospheric quality of his images.
