San Francisco, CA - On Friday, November 16th, John Pence Gallery, near Union Square in San Francisco, will present an exhibition of recent oil paintings by Randall Sexton. The gallery will host a reception for the artist on Friday November 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The exhibition will continue through December 15, 2007.

Randall Sexton is a twelve year veteran presenter --- the November 16 to December 15 show marks his eighth solo show with the gallery. Randall Sexton was featured in the Introductions ’95 exhibition and he has participated in numerous one-man and group shows at Pence for twelve years. This 2007 show marks a return to more familiar subjects drawn from the scenic beauty in and around the Bay Area… cityscapes, harbor scenes, and North Bay pastoral landscapes. Also included are a number of still-lifes presented with painterly panache.

He has shown in prestigious invitational shows and regularly comes away as the winner in such competitions (last year winning two Artists’ Choice awards). His use of bright pastel colors, to depict sunlight, gives his outdoor paintings an open fresh air atmosphere. A sense of movement and spontaneity is expressed through lively brushwork. Sexton is able to capture the beauty of both natural and urban vignettes by way of careful observation and attention to detail. This ability is admired by both his peers and collectors alike. Sexton has used his mastery of this gestural and painterly style to teach students at the Academy of Art University as well as animators at Pixar.
