Carrie Secrist Gallery hosts Petroc Dragon Sesti

Chicago, IL - Carrie Secrist Gallery is pleased to announce a new installation by artist Petroc Dragon Sesti. The work by this young artist is at once simple and complex. Sesti’s pieces have a hypnotizing effect on viewers, as he fills glass bell jars and spheres with fluid and installs a turbine underneath, creating a perpetual vortex. The illusion of a solid glass sculpture resting on a plinth is created.
Sesti’s pieces utilize technology to create art, but the meaning of the work also alludes to nature and basic scientific principles. Like a scientist, Sesti investigates his materials and the way in which they are changed in an artificial environment. His sculptures have a prism-like quality, as they distort the world around them. The pieces change depending upon which angle one views it from, and what from its surroundings is reflected within it.
Petroc Dragon Sesti lives and works in London. His work has been shown across Europe and the United States.
