artwork: Peter Tripp MagnoliaNew York City - Franklin 54 Gallery is pleased to present a show of paintings by Peter Tripp.  These new works of vibrant colorful florals are unique in shape and intricacy. Having helped popularize the use of round paintings in environmental design concepts in window installations in the past, Tripp is familiar with using unique shapes for his pieces.  Peter’s background influences in interior design are apparent in his composition within each piece making them detailed, decorative and striking works. On exhibit January 2-30th, 2007.

The artist has a history of making one of a kind works whether furniture, murals or paintings.  Choosing nature to portray, the artist conveys successfully to the viewer the beauty there is to be had in life.  As the artist states “I enjoy giving the individual a ticket for excursions of unlimited experiences in perception, insights and feeling.”  Also on display will be his “lips” series of movie divas that incorporate the artist’s painting palettes and were inspired by the 1800 English theme parties and masquerade balls with beauty marks and white powdered wigs.  The masks made from Tripp’s palettes cover the famous faces and the lips belong to famous ladies of the 20th century.  All in all an exciting ride not be missed.

Peter, a native Floridian, studied interior design at the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida.  He was a furniture designer in the early ‘70’s, did window displays in New York City and numerous interior mural designs in Florida.  “Repertoire” has been spotlighted in the current issue of Interior Design magazine; the artist currently lives and works in New York City.  Visit FRANKLIN 54 GALLERY - 181 Christopher Street - New York, NY 10014 : www.artnet.com/franklin54.html
