NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Now at the Peninsula Fine Arts Center and continuing through October 28, 2007, The Reality Show 2 explores the idea that reality is not concrete, but rather a point of view as presented by contemporary artists.
Following up on themes examined in 2005’s Reality Show, and organized by Pfac Program Director and Curator Michael Preble, the exhibition features diverse works including large-format paintings, silkscreen prints, collage, sculpture and a multi-media installation piece, that alone will occupy half of Pfac’s largest gallery.
According to Preble, “To borrow a line from Robin Williams, ‘Reality… what a concept,’ these shows present that in order to understand the spectrum of realism, one must appreciate that there are many different perspectives on reality.”
As with most Pfac exhibitions The Reality Show 2 is comprised of several shows encompassing one theme, and it includes: The Big Picture, a showing of several large-scale works by Erik Benson, Dan Ford, Jeana Klein, Walter Kravitz and Guy Richards Smit; Trace Extender, an installation by Richmond artist Greg Stewart; Collages by Judy Goodkind, humorous and satirical imagery; Recent Works by Sydney Meers, surrealistic and playful pieces by this well-known Hampton Roads artist and chef; and Mastering Light: extraordinary silkscreens by California artist Joe Price.
The Reality Show 2 is sponsored by 1st Advantage Federal Credit Union, FSK Property Management and Chesapeake Masonry Corporation. For more information call 757-596-8175 or visit www.pfac-va.org.
