Genesis 2008  has been held at the Peninsula Fine Arts Center for over 25 years. The exhibition serves as an important part of Pfac’s mission to promote the art community and foster artistic growth on the Peninsula. Michael Preble, Pfac program director and curator says, “Originally conceived as a way to support emerging artists, Genesis offers college and university students the chance to exhibit their work in a professional setting and to compete on a platform that will eventually become a familiar component of their growth as artists.”

Following the close of Genesis on May 4 will be Prefaces 2008 High School Student Juried Exhibition. Open to all full-time students on the Peninsula in grades 10, 11, and 12, Prefaces is another opportunity for area students to gain real world experience in art competition and a chance for youth produced works to be publicly shown at Pfac.

The Peninsula Fine Arts Center is located at 101 Museum Drive in the Mariner’s Museum Park in Newport News. For more information, call (757) 596-8175 or visit www.pfac-va.org
