Industrial Arts also showcases a sampling of historic photographs from the MMA collection documenting the early years of manufacturing in Muskegon taken by members of the Greater Muskegon Camera Club. The Greater Muskegon Chamber of Commerce later published these photographs in 1947 in a book called Muskegon Means Home to Me. According to MMA staff, this collaborative exhibition was inspired by the upcoming West Shore Symphony Orchestra’s upcoming “American Made: The Art of Manufacturing” concerts, scheduled for March 27 and 28 at the Frauenthal Center for Performing Arts. Several WSSO musicians will perform during the Industrial Arts opening reception at the Museum. The public is invited to attend the event and admission will be free. The MMA extends its thanks to the participating companies and artists that made this project possible. The companies are: Eagle Alloy Inc., Harbor Steel and Supply Corporation, Herman Miller, Howmet Castings/Alcoa, Johnston Boiler Company, JSJ Corporation, L-3 Communications, Louis Padnos Iron & Metal Company, Northern Machine Tool Company, and Shape Corporation.
