Morristown, NJ - A survey of some of the most important African-American artists from different time periods and movements will be on view at the Morris Museum in the exhibition African-American Masters from February 13 – April 1, 2007.  The exhibit features 28 influential works by artists who have contributed – and continue to contribute – profoundly to the vigor of modern and contemporary American art.  While major artists Benny Andrews, Romare Bearden, Jacob Lawrence and Faith Ringgold, anchor the exhibit, other artists include Aminah Robinson, Richard Mayhew, Joseph Delaney, Richard Hunt, Robert Duncanson and Charles White.

“The Morris Museum is honored to exhibit imaginative and insightful works by such an extraordinary group of artists who have had profound effects on the cultural fabric of American history,” said Steven H. Miller, executive director of the Morris Museum.  “We are very excited to be able to offer such a valuable and unique experience to the community.”

The Morris Museum is pleased to collaborate with ACA Galleries in New York to premier this exhibition, which was developed due to the success of the museum's last collaboration with ACA Galleries on the exhibition Anyone Can Fly-Faith Ringgold: A Survey, presented to great acclaim during the fall of 2005.
