Memphis, Tennessee - Celebrate the newest exhibition at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art with a free Family Day on Saturday, March 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. “Fit For a King” Family Day honors the exhibition Power Dressing: Men’s Fashion and Prestige in Africa, which opens to the public on this day. The exhibition features 49 spectacular examples of African men’s dress spanning from Morocco to South Africa and representing over a century of fashion.
The “Fit For a King” Family Day festivities will include a high-energy performance by the acclaimed musical dance company Watoto de Afrika, a series of short films inspired by African folk tales, a family activity guide for the Power Dressing exhibition, and plenty of hands-on art activities for the whole family. Give your kids the royal treatment as they experience beaded costumes from South Africa, feathered outfits from Cameroon, and colorful cloaks from Morocco.
