Mélanges: Lenticulars by Matthew Andrews
Friday, 14 July 2006 09:33
London - The Mélanges series defies classification because their constant state of flux allows them to cite multiple references and echo limitless photographic genres. Andrews’ subjects range from the playful portrait Marilyn, which combines iconic and less familiar images of Marilyn Monroe, to the polemical triptych Ex + Why? = Dead, a visual treatise on politics and its effects. The Mélanges exhibition brings together 20 new lenticular images by Matthew Andrews.“Lenticulars are truly interactive because a lenticular is quite different from everywhere you stand. As you walk past these images you see a mix of pictures that change with any slight movement of the viewer, so you have a multiplicity of images followed by a multiplicity of images, all in juxtaposition, forcing a continuously evolving narrative. “says Andrews.
