COMMENT Why is that we look so much alike the characters that people spaces in Desirée Maldonado´s work? …Because they are, just as we are, constantly playing in the field of human needs…and those needs transform into a constant; the linear narration breaks giving way to a space in perpetual movement…that of the gestures, that of the sometimes frustrated communication, that of the wishes, that of the looks and the silences. The line scrawls until a figure comes up, and then another, and yet other…then one of them stares at the observer in an attempt of getting attention outside the painting- the painting hides not: it personifies its role, becomes aware of being a language , of being a shape, and being, also, revitalized by that internal energy… A moment begins to build, always open and starred by the line; the line telling us –and also expressing in space- its being a metaphor; sometimes urban, sometimes timeless, but always complete in terms of its plastic potentialities: the textures, the brushstrokes, the chromatic game, etc., and the desire for communication in that physical discharge emphasized over and over again in each stroke on the canvas is, maybe, that energy so close to life itself that brings us so close to her characters.....Dante Montich Artist: DESIREE MALDONADO - Paintings Contact name : Maria Elena Kravetz Contact email.
