Birmingham, UK - In the past two years Madonna has become one of the most successful children's authors in the world. Her unique voice and beautifully illustrated volumes have sold more than two million copies in 40 languages in more than 110 countries. This latest work, Lotsa de Casha, is a whimsical updating of the age-old truth that money can't buy happiness.
An original illustration chosen by Madonna to be the frontispiece for her new children's book, Lotsa de Casha, goes on sale at the summer Antiques for Everyone fair at the NEC, Birmingham from 26 – 29 July 2007.
The 48-page book, written for readers aged six and upwards, is illustrated by Portuguese painter Rui Paes, best known for his frescoes at the historical Munkebakken house in Oslo, Norway. The illustration is painted in watercolour, measures 317 x 263 mm, and is priced at £2,500. It will feature on the stand of Books Illustrated, the specialist dealers in original illustrations, from Salisbury, who will also be selling a further four illustrations from the same book. Rui Paes says of working with the author, "Madonna has a visual awareness that allows her to see beyond the surface, and that is very rewarding for an artist." Madonna made publishing history with the global release of her first children's book, The English Roses, published simultaneously in 30 languages in more than 100 countries in 2003. It became the fastest-selling book in history written by a first-time children's author.
The Antiques for Everyone fair features more than 360 exhibitors and is a regular summer event that attracts more than 20,000 collectors and connoisseurs from across the world. It is the UK' s largest indoor, datelined event with more than 100,000 vetted antiques and works of art on sale.PUBLIC VISITOR INFORMATION Tel: UK (0)121-767 2947.
