Berlin - The Berlin Senate is clearly in favor of a temporary Kunsthalle Berlin.  With the Architectural plans by Adolf Kirschanitz, the opening this year of the Temporary Kunsthalle Berlin on the Schlossplatz is still possible.  Thanks to the financial commitment of the Sifting Subunit Berlin the funds (850,000 €) for realizing Adolf Krishanitz’s project are secured. Thus, the financing programme is solid.

The form is its concept: clear and flexible.  The transparent cube, whose in side and outside is conceived as display-space, will undeniably enhance the current situation on the Schlossplatz.  It will be flexible to react to whatever the givens of the site may be and its artistically treated outside surface will heighten its presence in the surrounding public space. From 26 April to 26 July, Franz Ackermann and Candice Breitz will virtually simulate the first display of the Temporary Kunsthalle Berlin (www.kunsthalle-berlin.com).  This will further highlight the affectivity and architectural merits of the proposal by Adolf Kirschanitz.  The simulated, virtual event will be curated by Gerald Matt, Kunsthalle Wien.

Artists from all over the world are working in Berlin, which confirms Berlin as an outstanding location for international art.  The Temporary Kunsthalle Berlin taps into this potential and creates a platform for contemporary art as the most important language of intercultural dialog.  It is in this way, the Temporary Kunsthalle Berlin will be a fitting counterpart to the Humboldt-Box.

Between 2007 and 2009, the Temporary Kunsthalle Berlin will stand a showcase for Berlin’s international art scene and as a rare opportunity to gather experience on the way to a more lasting solution for a new Kunsthalle for Berlin.
