John Pence Gallery shows Jacob A. Pfieffer

San Francisco, CA - On Friday, November 16^th, John Pence Gallery, near Union Square in San Francisco, will present an exhibition of recent oil paintings by Jacob A. Pfieffer. The gallery will host a reception for the artist on Friday November 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The exhibition will continue through December 15, 2005.

Jacob A. Pfeiffer is a young artist who hails from Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1996 with highest honors. In 1997 he moved to San Francisco and began his quest to become a professional artist with his own unique style and point of view. Early on, Pfeiffer became involved in the gallery: first as our Introductions Artist in 1999, and now marking his seventh solo show with Pence.

 Pfeiffer's technique is impeccable, precise, and uncannily accurate. His latest work consists of tightly rendered still lifes containing a wide variety of objects. Purposefully provocative compositions are constructed with meticulous and time consuming craftsmanship. A rich and deeply saturated palette is used to depict a myriad of complex textures. Pfeiffer designs his spaces with a deceptive simplicity that resonates with a sense of volume, drama and power. The resulting work has found a wide array of admiring collectors, making him one of the best-selling artists in the Bay Area. Pfeiffer has also garnered the attention of the art press, being featured in American Arts Quarterly and gracing the covers of Southwest Art and American Art Collector. His inclusion in several high profile museum shows attest to the status of this successful young artist.
