San Francisco, CA - On Thursday, May 15,  John Pence Gallery, near Union Square in San Francisco, will present an exhibition of recent oil paintings by Edward Minoff.  The gallery will host a reception for the artist on May 15th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.  The exhibition will continue through June 21st, 2008. From academic figure drawings to small elegant still-lifes, the full scope of Edward Minoff’s work will be on display for the public and collectors alike.

Edward Minoff is an extraordinary realist painter celebrating his fourth solo showing at the John Pence Gallery. After graduating from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts he went on to study at both the Water Street Atelier under Jacob Collins and the Florence Academy of Art. Now he not only teaches at Collins’ Grand Central Academy of Art but also stands as one of the country’s preeminent, emerging, realist artists.  In addition to his shows in San Francisco he has exhibited in galleries nationwide in: Houston, TX; Madison, CT; Alexandria, VA; and New York, NY.

artwork: Edward Minoff Sunset Rock, Study Oil on Canvas 8 x 14 inches, 2008Edward Minoff’s exhibition will consist of recent paintings including still-lifes, landscapes, seascapes, florals, interiors and figurative works, displaying his range and mastery in all areas of the realist genre.  Minoff’s ability to accurately render the nuances of the human form in a portrait while also being able to capture the color and beauty of a sunset in his landscape work, display a range rarely seen in academic realism.  In particular, Minoff’s recent seascape paintings, depicting calm or crashing waves, have garnered the attention of many collectors.  From intimately small ocean scenes to emotional and epic masterworks, Edward Minoff’s relentless and daring ventures into seascape painting have culminated into an impressive showing of seascapes few contemporary artists could achieve. From academic figure drawings to small elegant still-lifes, the full scope of Edward Minoff’s work will be on display for the public and collectors alike.
