For as long as art has been around, the human body has grabbed the attention and imagination of artists. It is indeed the oldest choice of subject matter, with the earliest known representation of the human form dating to around 25,000 BCE. Since that time, countless artists have taken the subject into their own hands to offer their own distinctive interpretation and rendering of the figure. Go Figure, the July exhibit at Isadore Gallery, pulls together a broad collection of paintings, prints, photography and sculpture whose subject matter centers on the figure. Our collection of local and international artists have each chosen to uniquely portray the human form. Join in the discussion and explore for yourself: what is it that is so fascinating about the human figure. On exhibit is Collin Asmus, Phil Biechler, Evelynn Eighmey, Lance Erlick, Leslie Halpern, Miles Halpern, John Hampshire, Gordon Harkin, Anna Kaye, Kate Leavitt, Sylvo Loffredo, Amy Mash, Kenney Mencher, Ruggero Mingarelli, Pablo Picasso, Angel Pinto, John Sloan, Julie Tifft and Mihail Tomescu. The mission of Isadore Gallery is to share the arts with the community by introducing unique visions from noted contemporary artists. Since its opening in 2005, the gallery has offered the community a broad array of shows from artists spanning the globe. In addition to the monthly exhibits, the gallery has in its collection a very diverse caché of original prints available for purchase. The print collection is that of Isadore Lichstein (for whom the gallery is named) whose international travels and passion for contemporary art led him to build a deep and valuable collection of 19th and 20th century original prints from around the globe.
