HARTFORD, CT - The Eli Wilner & Company has framed four Catlin paintings for the Wadsworth Atheneum. Working closely with Curator Elizabeth Kornhauser and drawing upon her knowledge of how other similar Catlin paintings owned by Colt were framed, Eli Wilner & Company created replicas of a simple, elegant 1850’s style frame with a sanded cove and gilded surface. The four paintings were treated as a group and all are in the same style frame.

The Colt Firearms Series was commissioned in the mid-1850s, and features the artist as an adventurer and expert marksman using Colt’s innovative firearms. The four paintings are currently on view at Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, Connecticut. For information call 860-278-2670 or visit :  www.wadsworthatheneum.org
