Lawrence, MA - 43 artists from New England and beyond will be displaying their work in the upcoming “Landscapes/Mindscapes” exhibition to be held at Gallery 181 in Lawrence, MA. Inspired by the awakening habitats of the Spring season, this exhibition features a wide array of interpretation of the reality of environment and the effect that is registered in the conceptual and personal realms of the individual experience.  The work ranges from the traditional to the interpretive. A gradual progression from what can be viewed in distinct reality to how this reality is processed internally is explored.  This exhibition highlights our presence, meaning and the intervention of ourselves in the natural environment.

The city of Lawrence can be seen as a metaphor for this aspect of humankind and the impact it has on the environment. In the process of rearranging itself, it is the presence of the people in the city that will reinvent it.  Many of reconstruction projects taking place in the city are paying close attention to the effect the action of growth has upon the natural and sociological wealth of the area.  This is part of how a healthy and active community comes into being.

The exhibition will run from May 1 – May 24, 2007. An artists’ reception will take place on Friday, May 11, from 5:30-8:00pm.  Everyone is welcomed! Regular gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10am-5pm, and Saturday from 12pm-5pm.  For more information please call (978) 741-7979 or email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
