Montreal, Canada – Toronto artist Scott P. Ellis will be exhibiting his recent collages at Galerie Samuel Lallouz from September 25 through October 30, 2007. The vernissage will be held on Tuesday, September 25 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The artist will be present. All are welcome.
Scott Ellis re-invents the medium of collage, and invests it with powerfully lyrical apocalyptic language. In the catalogue accompanying the exhibition, well-known curator and critic James D. Campbell says: “His is an aesthetic of sublime excess that dovetails with the ominous portents we live with on an everyday basis now: terrorist attacks, the spectre of perennial war, economic downturns, viral and radioactive contagion. All these omens of apocalypse inhabit his work like dark ciphers of tomorrow worlds that powerfully impinge on the present, casting a lengthening shadow over how we live and think now.”Scott P. Ellis lives and works in Toronto where he has shown his work at Headbones Gallery. His work was recently featured in the publication Riverside Quarterly. This is his first exhibition in Montreal.
