Davenport, Iowa - Artworks from “Leonardo da Vinci: Man - Artist – Genius,” will be on view Nov. 9 - Jan. 3, 2008 at the Figge in an exhibition sponsored in part by Butler Insurance Service, Inc., Davenport. Four of Leonardo’s most famous works – “The Last Supper,” “Mona Lisa,” “Annunciation”, and “The Virgin and Child with St. Anne” will be exhibited in full-scale reproductions. During the exhibition, the 50-minute A&E Biography film “Leonardo da Vinci: Renaissance Master,” will be shown continuously in the third-floor Orientation Gallery. This exhibition is on view in conjunction with the traveling exhibition “Leonardo da Vinci: Man - Inventor – Genius” at the Putnam Museum and IMAX Theatre November 9, 2007- February 23, 2008. In conjunction with the exhibition, Margaret Morse from Augustana College, Rock Island, will give a free presentation, “Leonardo da Vinci: The Theory and Practice of Art,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the Figge. Admission to the Figge will be free beginning at 6:30 p.m. that day. Also, refreshments will be served after the lecture. In the Figge’s “Sacred Images of Christmas” tours, visitors can explore artworks from around the world while they follow the events of the Christian calendar surrounding the birth of Christ. Beginning with the very young Virgin, and ending with the very young Christ Child, we will enjoy the stories, the mysteries, the colors and the textures of His birth.
