Los Angeles, CA - Master storyteller Erin Cosgrove’s latest project, What Manner of Person Art Thou?, is an elaborate animation that follows two characters, Yoder and Troyer, the only two survivors of two small colonies somewhere in the Northwestern United States, after a series of catastrophes and epidemics. Their lifestyle hasn’t changed much since the 16th century, so at first the two seem to come from a distant past, however as the tale unfolds, we find them living in the 21st century which might as well be an entirely different universe.

The two set off on a journey to find any remaining relatives while dispensing violent justice on the evil-doers of contemporary society. Each group they encounter represents one of the seven deadly sins and the visuals are inspired by the 11th Century Bayeux Tapestry. The video is an epic, humorous, and cautionary tale of the corruption of modern life and the hazards of morality. On view at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, December 9, 2008 – March 15, 2009
