Ekundayo Self Destructive Proletarian

Los Angeles, CA - Ekundayo solos at Thinkspace. Ekundayo was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1983 and raised there until the age of five at which point he left with his father to travel around the United States. After his father passed away in 1994 he found an escape through graffiti and hasn’t looked back or stopped painting since. Among Ekundayo’s many influences are Arthur Rackham, Nicoli Fechin, Toulouse Lautrec, Lucien Freud, Henry Ossawa Tanner, Gustave Klimt, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, Sergio Toppi and Alan E. Cober; to name just a few. Ekundayo studied Illustration at Art Center College of Art and Design in Pasadena.

Ekundayo’s debut solo show, “Interlaced”, deals with the relations between people and how we are all connected in some way, no matter how elite, or oblivious we are to the issues surrounding us. Ekundayo expresses this by creating a sea of interconnected lines amidst a landscape of vibrant colors and surrealistic characters that weave in and out of dream like compositions. On exhibition August 10th through September 8th. Opening Reception: Friday, August 10th from 7PM until 11PM. Artist website: www.ekundayo.com

Thinkspace Gallery in Los Angeles exists as a catalyst for the rapidly expanding movement that is exploding forth from the streets and art schools not only in Los Angeles, but the world over. We are here to help represent this new generation of artists, to provide them that home base and to aid them in building the right awareness and collector base necessary for long-term growth.

Thinkspace was established to help these new talents shine and to provide them a gallery setting in which to prove themselves. It is our hope and dream that through these opportunities these individuals will prosper and continue to grow to amaze us all for years to come. With the love of and for our community, and with the talents of so many incredible artists involved, we believe that this movement will provide the necessary proving ground for the ideas and dreams of today to become the foundations of a new tomorrow.
