INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- Collectors from around the world are invited to experience the Eiteljorg Museum’s first annual presentation of Quest for the West, an invitational art exhibition and sale that begins Sept. 8, 2006, until 8 October. The show will feature paintings and sculptures from the nation’s premier Western artists, including Wilson Hurley, Robert Griffing, Kenn Bunn and George Carlson. “This is the only major Western art sale and show east of the Mississippi,” says James Nottage, vice president and chief curatorial officer. “Quest for the West makes the best contemporary Western artists and their work more accessible to art collectors and enthusiasts in the Midwest and East.”
Reservations are required for opening weekend activities, Friday, Sept. 8, through Sunday, Sept. 10, include the art sale, a gala reception, demonstrations, panel discussions and opportunities to meet 50 participating artists from around the country. Among the awards presented during opening weekend will be a Quest for the West Purchase Award that will recognize creative excellence and add important artwork to the museum’s permanent collection.
