San Pedro, CA - Flazh!Alley Studio proudly announces its new photography exhibition "Horowitz By Arbus - The Lost Diane Arbus Portraits." The exhibit consists of fifteen digital color prints [limited edition] from the original transparencies taken by the famed photographer Diane Arbus in conjunction with an ad campaign for Zeiss Lenses in 1969, two years before her death in 1971. These photographs have never been printed or exhibited before and are "new" to the public Arbus canon.

The subject of these photos is then Broadway stage actor, Bob Horowitz, now known as Bob Barry, jazz photographer. These photographs reveal, as no one but Arbus could, a face of late sixties New York City.

Diane Arbus needs no introduction to collectors of twentieth century American photography: indeed, a print of her "Identical Twins" sold for $478,000.00 in 2004 and is still one of the ten most expensive photographs.

Arbus was born into a wealthy and talented New York family. Her brother, Howard Nemerov, was Poet Laureate. Arbus herself won two Guggenheim Fellowships to pursue her personal documentary photography which has become iconic of her American generation. She is now famous for her urban portraits, her poignant images of underclass subjects, and her unglamorous images of big city life, all at a time when America was riven by war, filled with social unrest, a large segment of the population testing the waters of the looming drug culture, and experimenting with sexual freedom. These fifteen prints on display possess the Arbus magic of charged reality, turning simple images into revelations.

Because of the importance of this collection, Flazh!alley Studio has extended the exhibition to twelve weeks. ADULTS ONLY (18 and over) "HOROWITZ BY ARBUS" can also be seen by appointment.
