Author of provocative, intellectual book boy with an ‘i’ David Montalvo teamed up with Brooklyn-based photographer for the online photo-album his mix media book, earning Montalvo popularity, notoriety and, most significantly, international book sales, Manhattan art exhibition opportunities and even modeling work to help launch a New York-based clothing line.

After reviewing his online portfolio, Montalvo contacted Kurt Wehmann, Brooklyn-based photographer, for the launch of his debut book boy with an ‘i’, which was already being critically-acclaimed by trade publication Music Connection magazine.

“My artistic vision wasn’t to be sexy or ‘look at my butt’ and I told [Wehmann] that! My music, paintings and book are about raw emotions and ‘in the moment’ creations – I wanted that quintessence to come through in my pictures too and make it relatable to guys, gals, gays and even God,” explains Montalvo about his collaboration with Wehmann.

Having only previously worked with digital camera photo-shoots, Montalvo reveals, “[Wehmann] insisted we only do film, but I had very specific and difficult yoga moves in mind. Needless-to-say, it was such a hard photo-shoot but the images are amazing!”
