New York City - Franklin 54 Gallery is pleased to present a show of unique oil paintings by Bruce Iacono. These paintings, depicting landscapes, city streets and sports scenes are unique not only in the technique the artist uses but in the connection we feel as viewers with the paintings. We are transported into the landscape and instantly become enveloped by the sensations within it. These are familiar scenes that stir up memories of times past and present that have been a part of all our lives. Rich in color, these pieces are quiet and inviting with loneliness we can welcome. Exhibition dates September 1-30th, 2006. In “Olana 2”, we are inside feeling the warmth of the sun as we move through the hot almost prickly sway of the grass - while the cool blue of the sky and clouds comforts and calms us, providing the traveler with an extreme sense of stillness and peace. In “The House Across the Street”, the colors are bright, almost warm, yet we can feel the breeze and cold crispness of this winter’s day; the contrast makes the scene even more inviting. Iacono’s paintings pull and wake up our emotions and thoughts, as it should be with any successful painting. His slanted brushstrokes and use of color add to this mixture of sensibility. This artist’s love for the landscape is quite evident here - he has established a wonderful relationship with it and has expertly passed it on to us for the experience.
Bruce received his BFA from the Philadelphia College of Art and studied at Allgemeine Gewerbeschule in Basel, Switzerland. His work has been exhibited across the United States and internationally in Taiwan. Bruce’s paintings are in numerous private collections and his pieces have been chosen for the Art in Embassies Program with the US State Department. He is a member of the National Arts Club in NYC and lives and works in Brewster, New York.
