Melbourne, FL – INK ! Contemporary Prints from Graphicstudio on tour from The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art is a comprehensive exhibition showcasing their collection of contemporary prints.  The cast of contemporary artists who have utilized Graphicstudio is a testament to it’s innovative and pioneering spirit.  The exhibition includes prints by Chuck Close, Lesley Dill, Robert Mapplethorpe, Robert Rauschenberg, and Kiki Smith.  Exhibition on view from February 24 – April 22, 2007.

Grouped into seven categories: human figure, still life, landscape, Florida, line, text, and “pushing the boundaries,” context and placement provide new insights.  This wide-ranging collection of prints demonstrates both the Ringling Museum’s long-standing commitment to the art of our time and its support of artistic research through the world renowned atelier Graphicstudio.
Two programs will amplify the content and scope of the exhibition.   Former Director of Research and current consultant on special projects, Deli Sacilotto will give an overview of the world renown Graphicstudio on Thursday, March 8 at 1 pm.  Making Great Art on Paper: the Legacy of Graphicstudio will be a gallery walk given by Joanna Weber Associate Curator at The John and Mable Ringling Museum on Friday, March 23 at 1 pm.

The exhibition INK! Contemporary Prints from Graphicstudio has been organized by The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, The State Art Museum of Florida, Florida State University, Sarasota, FL.
