Joanna White: 'Paper Origami Boxes' at The Brevard Museum of Art

Melbourne, FL – The exhibition Joanna White: Recent Work with a gallery walk by the artist at the Brevard Museum of Art and Science on exhibition until 17 June, 2007. Paper origami boxes serve as metaphors for artist Joanna White. Displayed in series of varying sizes and color, the simple structure provides a framework for handling a range of ideas important to Joanna White is rhythmic forms, production, and fragility.
White reflects on her work, “I used to make pieces that were about other people; problems I saw that seemed to need pointing out. What I’ve learned is that I’m really addressing myself and my own contradictions.”
White received her MFA in studio art from Florida State University in 2005. She is currently an Art Instructor and Program Coordinator in the Art Department of Brevard Community College, Melbourne campus.
