Eternal Summer: The Art of Surf Culture at Brevard Museum

Melbourne, FL – The Brevard Museum of Art and Science presents Eternal Summer: The Art of Surf Culture organized with the East Coast Surfing Hall of Fame Museum. The love of surfing has spawned creative ways to enjoy waves and artistic works which reflect nature’s beauty. This exhibition will include surfboards, the art of shaping boards, art on surfboards, paintings, and sculptures which exemplify the diversity of this influential subculture. July 29 – September 10, 2006 Exhibition dates. “The art of the surf culture is an aesthetic look at the art, artists, and ideas that have sprung forth from the surfing community, from subculture to pop culture, individuals to corporations and soul surfer to pro athlete,” says exhibition contributor and advisor Bruce Reynolds. “This exhibition shows how the art of surfing impacts not only the world of surfing but the world in general.”
Artists in the exhibition include Reggie Holladay, Rick Piper, Mike (Nemo) Nemnich, Eric Maurus, Pat Madden, Bruce Reynolds, Gary Propper, Henry Lund, Robert Brennan, Steve Forstall, Mark Longeneker, Larry Pope, Damian Share, John Severson, and Jim Hannan.
