Boca Raton, FL -- The Boca Raton Museum of Art is pleased to announce the opening of The Other Half: Women in the Collection This exhibition will be on display through April 13, 2008. The Other Half: Women in the Collection brings together works by some of the most respected 20th century and contemporary mid-career women artists working today. Many of these well-known women have inspired countless artists, male and female, and made a significant impact on the art community.

These artists have not been selected simply because they are women artists, but because each has made important contributions to American art. For centuries women’s contributions to society, arts, science and literature have been overshadowed by their male counterparts. This fascinating exhibition including prints, shaped canvases and paintings highlights the integral role women have played in the development of art in America and Europe. Their works are outstanding representatives of important trends in art history. Their achievements introduced here provide only a small survey of the many women artists who have created important work in the last century.
