Renowned Texas Artist, Bert Long Jr., Exhibits at HCG Gallery

Dallas, Texas– Dallas’ HCG Gallery is proud to host artist Bert Long Jr. and his latest show "My Daily Bread." Houston native Bert Long Jr., a self taught artist, received his formal education in Adult Education from UCLA in 1972. Working in a variety of mediums, Long Jr., has gained national and international recognition throughout his career for his thought provoking art. Following a private reception on December 5th welcoming Long Jr., HCG Gallery will display his art from December 5, 2008 through January 10, 2009.
He describes the philosophy behind his work as "a quest to help people diagnose their inner self", believing his art to be "the vehicle to help facilitate the process,"Throughout his career, Long Jr. has received multiple commendations for his contribution to the art world. In 1990 he was awarded the Rome Prize Fellowship and was recognized as Texas Artist of the Year. Most recently, he has been named Artist of the Year by Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts. Long Jr. has advanced his work by completing an installation of a 30 foot painting commissioned for THE LOSCAN Library, as well as signing a contract for a book by renowned writer Thomas McEvilly, and participating in a documentary film, premiering in February of 2009, by award winning FilmWorks.
Bert Long Jr.’s work continues to gain notoriety as it is seen in over 100 private and public collections worldwide.
