BEIJING - The competition came to an end Sunday at the Beijing Olympics. The Olympic flame, which had burned for 16 days was extinguished during a lavish closing ceremony at the National Stadium. With an awesome carnival-themed extravaganza, China concluded its debut as Olympic host on Sunday after 16 days of near-flawless logistics and superlative athletic achievement - coexisting awkwardly with the government's wariness of dissent and free speech.
The world watched in amazement as China delivered yet another jaw-dropping performance at the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games. Coming close on the heels of its amazing ascent to the top of the medals tally, China lent a new meaning to closing ceremonies with a performance that may well have tied for the gold with its sensational opening two weeks ago.

Ace Showbiz reported that, British pop songstress Leona Lewis gave her best performance during the closing ceremony of the Olympics game held at the Olympic stadium in Beijing on Sunday, August 24. Teaming up with veteran guitarist Jimmy Page, both stars thrilled the audience, singing Led Zeppelin's classic hit "Whole Lotta Love." Their special performance was meant to mark the end of the 2008 games and the official handover ahead of the London 2012 event.
