Bath, UK - Bath Fine Art opens its 2009 exhibition and events program with a painting demonstration over the weekend of February 7th – 8th, by two of the area’s most popular artists. Saturday, February 7th provides an opportunity to join one of the country’s leading watercolour painters, John Palmer RWA, as he demonstrates his skill and unique, enviable style. Years of lecturing and demonstrations throughout England and Europe have made his performances as accomplished as his paintings.John paints quickly and instinctively, creating refreshing watercolours that have earned him a worthy reputation as one of the RWA’s most popular academicians.
Sunday, February 8thoffers a chance to watch local artist Ben Hughes, paint street scenes of Bath and beautiful Mediterranean villages. Ben’s subject and style varies widely from gentle “Plein Air” Bath street scenes, to detailed portraits on wacky abstract backgrounds. Works that have recently stirred considerable interest are scenes of Bath that look like they belong in the artist’s sketchbook. Ramblings around the edge of the paintings reveal his thoughts, inspirations, poetry and observations of the world going on around him as he paints, creating a profound study of that moment in time. The demonstrations are free and open to the public from 10am – 5pm on Saturday, and 11am – 5pm on Sunday.
