The Atlanta Art Gallery hosts "Realism Invitational 2008"

Atlanta, GA - The Atlanta Art Gallery announces the opening of "Realism Invitational 2008", August 22 to October 5, 2008. The opening reception is Friday, August 22, 2008, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM and exhibit hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Admission is free. This show features realist paintings and drawings by established and emerging artists. The Waichulis Studio located in Pennsylvania will be represented by Anthony Waichulis, Leah Waichulis, Justin Balliett, Helen Crispino, Star Galler, Michael Hockenbury, Timothy Jahn, Steve Mihal, Omar Rodriguez, and Kate Sammons. Additional artists included are Robert C. Kirkpatrick, Kirk Richards (former Vice President of The Classical Realism Society), Debra Teare and others.
Anthony Waichulis is a trompe l'oeil artist who has been titled a "Living Master of Contemporary Realism" by the Art Renewal Center (www.artrenewal.org), an internationally recognized organization that promotes the highest standards in realism. His trompe l’oeil pieces (two pieces are in this show) are coveted by collectors of realism and normally are in the $4,000 to $35,000 price range. Waichulis was recently featured in the July/August 2008 issue of The Artist’s Magazine, “Towards A Flawless Finish”. He was also the recipient of the First Place Still Life award in the 4th Art Renewal Center Salon Competition.
The students of The Waichulis Studio are becoming nationally recognized in popular U. S. art magazines and consistently earning significant awards in juried drawing and painting competitions. Steve Mihal was selected as a Top 10 finalist in the American Artist magazine’s Self-Portrait Competition. Kate Sammons drawing, “In Search of Lost Time” was one of ten finalists for the Drawing Magazine Cover Competition and she is featured with the other finalists in the summer 2008 issue of the magazine.
Leah Waichulis, Justin Balliet, Terese Rogers, Helen Crispino, Kate Sammons and Steve Mihal have all been chosen to appear in Strokes of Genius 2: The Best of Drawing Light and Shadow which is due out in 2009. In addition, Helen Crispino, Leah Waichulis, Anthony Waichulis and Kate Sammons were all recent finalists in the 2008 Art Kudos International Art Competition.
