The exhibition opens November 17, 2007 with a cocktail reception (presenting Art Rouge special signature drink) that is going to take place at the gallery’s art space located in the Wynwood Art District, 46 NW 36 St., Loft 3, Miami, FL 33127 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The show will run until the end of December.
Francisco Toledo is the most important living Mexican graphic artist. Toledo's outstanding creativity and versatility can be appreciated in numerous artworks through different artistic media like pottery, sculpture, weaving, graphic arts, and paintings. His art has traveled the world and Art Rouge Gallery is proud to bring to the public etchings from his latest works. Toledo is not only an exceptional artist but also an important protector of Oaxaca’s (his home state) arts, crafts and architectural heritage. His social and cultural commitment with his home state has made him worthy of honorable prices like the Mexican National Prize (1998), the Prince Claus Award (2000) and the Right Livelihood Award (2005).
Sergio Hernandez, whose major influences are Mexican painter Jose Guadalupe Posada and German artists Enzo and Anfil Kafer, is currently one of Oaxaca’s most prolific and distinguished painters. This several time awarded artist is deeply in touch with his Mixteca origins which are reflected in the theme of his artworks and in the way he uses colors. The work of Luis Granda is always in search of human emotions and states of beings. He unifies the being and the body to create a vast interior landscape. His paintings rescue universal symbols, like letters and numbers, which mix with colors, forms and different materials creates a deep spiritual and emotional atmosphere.
Pedro Zubizarreta’s artwork is characterized by the production of interlaced figures, of exaggerated anatomies inspired by anthropomorphous trees. His pictorials compositions and sculptures are enriched with rhythmic movements and seductive lines and forms. The architectonic way he organized colors give a geometric or post cubist atmosphere to his art work. Reason and Emotions are in continues fight for supremacy in the work of this Master of art.
Serrano’s art is influence by masters such as Vicente Segrelles, Boris Vallejo, James Christensen, Salvador Dali y Michael Parkes. Surrealism provides the artist the opportunity to express abstract feelings and ideas in a visual medium. He simply paints how he feels the world. “When I paint, I close up my interior dialogue. I simply feel” says the artist.
