1. Art Paris 2009 Hosts the Most Dynamic Galleries of Modern and Contemporary Art

    PARIS - Held for the past three years in the historic Grand Palais in Paris, in the last ten years Artparis has become one of the most important events in Paris for those involved with the international art scene. An important meeting point for professionals in the contemporary and modern art markets, each year the fair attracts a mix of long-time art collectors as well as amateurs of art. (41,000 visitors in 2008)

    115 of the most dynamic galleries of modern and contemporary art currently active on the international art market have already reserved their places under the glass and steel dome of the Grand Palais. On March 19th, ARTPARIS will be kicking off its eleventh edition, inviting international collectors, professionals and lovers of art from the world of art to visit the more than one hundred galleries which will be brought together under the majestic dome of the Grand Palais through March 23rd, 2009.

    Fourteen countries represented
    With one third of the galleries coming from outside of France, fourteen countries are represented in total. Europe figures in the first place with France (78 galleries), Italy (7 galleries), Belgium (6 galleries), Germany (5 galleries), Switzerland (4 galleries), Hungary (2 galleries), Luxembourg (2 galleries), Austria (1 gallery), Spain (1 gallery), Great Britain (1 gallery) and Monaco (1 gallery). Asia is also present with three galleries making the trajectory from China.

    In 2009, 32 new galleries have joined as exhibitors of artparis (they were 25 in 2008).     Chosen for their focus on quality and the variety of their artistic choices, side by side with the most well-known and established galleries they will offer a vast panorama of the art of the 20th and 21st centuries as represented through a range of media from painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, video, installation and performance.

    This year, artparis is putting a new focus on photography with artparis photography. Fifteen specialized galleries will be exhibiting in this sector:
    Acte 2, Camera Obscura, Philippe Chaume, Emotion, In Camera, la Galerie de L’Instant, CM Art, Nessim Galeria, Obsis, Paris Globe, Paris-Beijing Photo Gallery, Françoise Paviot, Olivier Waltman, Wanted Paris et Esther Woerdehoff.
