VIENNA, AUSTRIA - The Albertina presents From 1970: Austrian Art in the Albertina, on view through January 11, 2009. Austrian art takes center stage in the second in a series of exhibitions showcasing highlights from the Albertina's collection of 20,000 international contemporary artworks. The series kicked off last year with Art After 1970. The exhibition From 1970: Austrian Art in the Albertina includes around 220 works by 33 artists.
Eduard Angeli, Siegfried Anzinger, Christian Ludwig Attersee, Herbert Brandl, Gunter Brus, Adriana Czernin, Gunter Damisch, Adolf Frohner, Sonja Gangl, Bruno Gironcoli, Franz Grabmayr, Peter Hauenschild/Georg Ritter, Gottfried Helnwein, Wolfgang Hollegha, Elke Krystufel, Maria Lassnig, Ulrike Lienbacher, Josef Mikl, Alois Mosbacher, Hermann Nitsch, Florentina Pakosta, Markus Prachensky, Arnulf Rainer, Franz Ringel, Hubert Scheibl, Roman Scheidl, Alfons Schilling, Hubert Schmalix, Walter Schmogner, Max Weiler, Franz West, Erwin Wurm, Franz Zadrazil. This exhibition is being organized in cooperation with the Oesterreichischen Nationalbank.
The Albertina is a museum in the Innere Stadt (First District) of Vienna, Austria. It houses one of the largest and most important print room collections in the world with approximately 65,000 drawings and approximately 1 million old master prints, as well as more modern graphics works and masterwork paintings.
