Chicago.- The Judy A Saslow Gallery is pleased to present "The Four D's: Details, Doodling, Determination and Dazzle" from June 3rd through July 9th. The exhibition features four Chicago-based artists, James Allen, Frank Paluch, Nancy Paschke and David Philpot.

Chicago Artist James Allen is a talented and prolific artist who draws detailed images of steam trains and subway cars as vehicles for escape, often weaving through landscapes and neighborhoods. Chicago Artist Frank Paluch creates drawings while talking on the phone, with each page of drawings representing one month of conversations. He has been the director of Perimeter Gallery in Chicago for the past 29 years and spends a lot of time talking to artists and clients, which has resulted in this body of work entitled “The Price of Conversation.”

Chicago Artist Nancy Paschke, along with husband Ed Paschke, studied painting and drawing at the Art Institute of Chicago in the late 1950’s. She later developed symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, a degenerative neurological condition that effects motor skills and balance. As Parkinson’s disease progressed, fluctuations of style can be seen in her subject matter of still life and portraiture.

Chicago Artist David Philpot creates elaborate staffs made from Ailanthus wood that are characterized by images of intertwining serpents and intricate geometric patterns. They feature exquisite ornamentation and often show an African influence.  Despite all the adversity throughout his life he has continued to succeed in creating beautifully crafted canes.
