New York City - The Affordable Art Fair in New York City takes place between May 5th and May 8th at 7 West 34th Street. AAF in NYC is the place to discover and buy works of art from today's hottest young talent and well-known names, with all works priced from just $100 up to $10,000. AAF is for everyone, including the art savvy collector and the first time buyer. As well as workshops and talks, the Affordable Art Fair NYC Spring 2011 will host Art x Women, a special section of nine galleries exhibiting solely work by women artists. As the first fair to present such a focus, we are extremely excited to launch this project at a time when there is an overwhelming interest in women artists and feminist art.
In recent years numerous articles in publications such as ArtNews, The New York Times, New York Magazine and Art in America as well as many recent large-scale exhibits such as "WACK, Women Art and Revolution," curated by Cornelia Butler, "ELLE@CentrePompidou", and the founding of the ground breaking Elisabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum as well as significant publications such at MoMA's new Modern Women have placed women artists at the forefront like never before.

The Affordable Art Fair New York City is proud to announce a partnership with the Children's Cancer & Blood Foundation (CCBF). CCBF will host a silent art auction at AAF NYC, and among the works of art offered in the auction will be 10 works donated by AAF NYC's exhibiting galleries. The silent auction will begin during the Private Preview of the fair on May 4 and close on the last day of the fair on May 8. All proceeds from the auction will go to enable the foundation to provide much needed medication, chemotherapy and other life-saving treatments to children who would not otherwise be able to afford care. CCBF is an important organization that supports the comprehensive clinical care of children living with blood disorders, fosters research to help understand the causes of childhood blood disorders and sponsors the fellowship training of pediatricians of the subspecialty of pediatric hematology and oncology.
Around 80 galleries from all over the world will be exhibiting at AAF in NYC, including galleries from Argentina, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Australia, Vietnam and Holland as well as those from the USA. When Will Ramsay founded the first Affordable Art Fair in Battersea Park, London in 1999 his aim was to make contemporary art accessible to everyone, and to show you don’t need to be an art expert or a millionaire to enjoy and buy art. Ten years on The Affordable Art Fair is a leading showcase for contemporary art. In 2001 Will launched a second event in Battersea Park, the Spring Collection, to showcase entirely different artists from the Autumn Collection. Now over 23,000 people come to each London fair to enjoy the art exhibited by the 120 British and international galleries. In the same year he established a fair in the West Country; AAF Bristol now takes place every May.
This year AAF has been selected as one of the UK's coolest brands by an independent council and more than 2,500 members of the British public. As brands are unable to nominate themselves to be a CoolBrand, it just goes to show how much support the fair has from its visitors! AAF has also become something of a global phenomenon with fairs taking place in Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, New York, Milan and Singapore, while affiliate events include Sydney and Melbourne. Globally, 783,000 people have visited an Affordable Art Fair, buying over £120 million of art. Visit the AAF in NYC website at ... http://www.aafnyc.com
