The PICTURE Art Foundation Opens An International Exhibition "On Being Human"

Los Angeles, CA.- With works by Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, Norman Rockwell, James Tissot, James McNeill Whistler and Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, Blessing, a bold vibrant oil painting by Shanye Huang, has been selected for inclusion in the crossing cultures and centuries international exhibition “On Being Human: Love, Faith, Shame, and Hope” presented by PICTURE Art Foundation. Huang’s selection is especially significance, since he is the only Chinese-American artist, whose Blessing is one of the 130 works in all media by over 90 artists representing over 30 distinct cultures from 50 different countries across several centuries. "On Being Human" is on view till October 2011.

Conceived around four universal themes of love, faith, shame and hope, the exhibition shows how all humans, irrespective of cultural difference, share a common life experience. Work was selection on the basis of theme, cultural identification, quality of the artwork and the artist's reputation and credentials. Shanye Huang, born in Guangxi, China, has absorbed the long and rich Chinese cultural, religious, and philosophical traditions, and has integrated their essence into his work. His art unveils the aspiring and resilient human spirits; fosters love, hope and ideals in life, and underlines his philosophy on art through the concept of yin-yang.

Says Mike Johnson, PICTURE Culture Art’s President: “This exhibition encourages the viewer to examine art’s common themes across several cultures through the centuries. It’s our hope that visitors will walk away with a refreshed sense of understanding of the links common to us all. “. He also contains, “this group of leading artists challenge us to investigate our own feelings, inspire us to find our own answers and urge us to make a difference.”
